Hello Heather
Just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful wool - it arrived yesterday
(Friday here in the US), so that's a pretty good delivery time!
I will definitely order from Needlenook again. An excellent transaction
all round and a great response to my emails!
Thanks so much for making this stress free and enjoyable - I love getting
parcels of wool in the mail!! :)
Regards
Andrea Kerr
Hand Knitting for the 2002 season is shaping up to be a very exciting
year with many wonderful new yarns and superb colours in the classic yarns.
Natural Fibres continue to be in high demand for their warmth, and comfort.
The appeal of this character in Wool, Mohair, Alpaca and Angora hasn’t
changed over the generations. To compliment them we have the interesting
textures of Polyester, nylon and acrylic in the wide range of fashion yarns
we offer.
Patons
Patons “Australia” have introduced 5 new Fashion Yarns this season.
They are Feathers, Ostrich, Bunyip, Glacier, and Ragamuffin. Feathers and
Ostrich are fun yarns and luxurious as hats, scarves, jumpers and jackets.
For that individual look they tone with the Totem colours as collars and
cuffs on an otherwise plain garment. Feathers comes in five colours, with
Ostrich having four colours to choose from.
Bunyip makes a soft cosy knit and there are patterns available to suite
children, teens and adults.
Glacier has 6 colours and is a combination of Wool and Acrylic. A nice
light yarn for the 12 ply knitters
Ragamuffin. Well here is something very different! It is the combination
of 3 quite unrelated threads combined into one. It comes in just 2 multi
coloured shades and is knitted on 7.5 needles making it quick to knit.
Loopy Mohair and Miraggio proved popular last season and look to be
continuing their popularity in 2002. With Loopy having 3 new colours, a
vibrant orange, deep turquoise and a blue purple mix.
Complimenting Patons range of fashion yarns there is of course the ever
popular and reliable Totem, Bluebell, Patonyle and Fireside.
Shepherd
What have Shepherd done to Baby Wool?
In addition to the more traditional pastel baby colours they have introduced
8 brilliant new colours in 4 ply. A new book has been released for children
and babies called Moda II and it contains 32 patterns in the new colours.
Some designs use the 4 ply single strand, and others use it doubled. With
the book and the new colours you can create the brightest happiest winter
tot’s garments ever.
Glen Mist continues to be a top quality 100% wool 8 ply crepe
and isi still modestly priced making it excellent value.
So Simple and Denim Rap have a high percentage of Wool giving warmth
to a textured fashion yarn. Don’t overlook the Shepherd New Accent Mohair.
It continues to be a top quality Mohair.
Cleckheaton
Take a look at “Show Off “ (new this season). What an amazing Yarn.
Worked on 9 mm needles it will take you no time at all to “show off” your
knitting skills with a beautiful fashion garment.
“Divine” (new this season) is a combination of Acrylic, Wool, and Nylon.
It looks like something one would use for lace making rather than a knitting
yarn, but creates a soft elegant garment.
Flirt (new this season) has just 8 colours to offer in vibrant fashion
tones, unlike other yarns it has a lurex thread to give it sparkle.
Jumpers and jackets are still popular in Faux Fur, and double for both
day and evening wear. The Printed Silky Faux Fur has the softest, most
slinky and fluid feel to it. 2 new colours were added to the Silky for
this season.
Gusto 10 has new colours which are worth looking at, and as it is worked
on 10mm needles a garment is almost complete in a weekend or several football
matches in front of the Telly if you like.
Taboo is a Boucle style fashion yarn and a quick knit. It has a Wool
content of 20% and there are 10 colours in the range.
Merino supreme is all it’s name says. It is produced and spun in Australia
to appeal to those of us wanting a ‘soft touch’ yarn. High quality, 12
ply, 100% Wool in 12 colours.
Wendy Peter pan
Wendy Peter Pan, make one of the best quality synthetic Baby yarns on
the market with a mix of Nylon, Courtelle, and Acrylic. There is a wide
choice of colours and it is available in several thicknesses.
This season they have introduced Unique Fancy and Strata which are
half Merino Wool and half synthetic fibre. These yarns have texture and
muted colour variations which knit on a large needle to create wonderful
jackets in a short time
SIRDAR
Snowflake comes in Chunky, DK, and now Glacier.
It is a versatile yarn, lending its self to jumpers, jackets, hats
and scarves. It is suitable for men’s, women’s, and children’s wear.
Even creates a favourite teddy bear.
Eternity Aran is an interesting mixture of Merino Wool/ Acrylic/Nylon/Polyester
and
Alpaca, and has been dyed into five subtle colours. Ideal for “over
garments”, such as jackets.
If you would like a quick easy knit that has appeal, try Denim Ultra.
It is a mixture of Acrylic/Cotton/Wool, and gives a superb end result.
JO SHARP
Jo Sharp would be one of Australia’s best designers. Her new book for
children “Heartland”, is not to be missed.
Working with the Jo Sharp 8 ply wool, spun from long, fine fibres of
Merino and Border Leicester fleece, is a knitters delight.
TOYS and RUGS
There are numerous patterns for toy, rugs and dolls clothes.
Many use the 8 ply Courtelle, but there are cuddly toys made from yarns
such as Snowflake and Faux Fur.
You may be experienced and need a challenge, or just beginning and need
a small project to get started.
There is something to suit the needs of every knitter!
Wishing you all a relaxed and rewarding knitting season.
Regards Heather.
